APEC Architect

Architect Rafael G. Chan is the first architect from Baguio City to be admitted to the APEC Architect Register (PH-00063). This distinction recognizes architects who have demonstrated extensive professional experience, ethical practice, and competence that meet internationally accepted standards across the Asia-Pacific region.

What Is an APEC Architect?

The APEC Architect Project was established to facilitate the provision of architectural services among participating economies within the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). It provides a framework through which experienced architects may qualify for fast-track professional recognition in participating economies, subject to local laws and regulations.

Admission to the APEC Architect Register is reserved for architects who have demonstrated professional competence, substantial practical experience, continuing professional development, and a commitment to ethical practice.

Professional Recognition Beyond National Registration

While all practicing architects must first satisfy the licensing requirements of their own country, APEC Architect recognition represents an additional level of professional achievement. It acknowledges architects whose qualifications and experience have been evaluated against internationally agreed standards developed by participating APEC economies.

For clients, this distinction provides additional confidence that their architect has demonstrated competence consistent with internationally recognized professional benchmarks.

A Milestone for Baguio Architecture

In 2019, Rafael G. Chan became the first architect from Baguio City to be admitted to the APEC Architect Register as APEC Architect No. PH-00063. The conferment recognized more than four decades of professional practice, technical expertise, and leadership in architecture.

The achievement also reflects the continuing advancement of architectural practice in Northern Luzon and reinforces RG Chan & Associates' commitment to maintaining professional standards that meet both national and international expectations.
